This children's picture book is about a border collie named Kiefer who is deaf. Most of the story is told from the dog's point of view, but the beginning and end are narrated by his owner. Every other page illustrates and explains a sign that either Kiefer's family uses to communicate with him or pertains to the story. The drawings are colorful and fun. My favorite one shows Kiefer signing "hello". I highly recommend this book for anyone with an interest in signing or dogs.

I have a deaf Aussie Shepherd mix we adopted 10 years ago from the SPCA. She spent the first year of her life being bounced around from one no kill shelter to another. She has some emotionally and psychological scars from that, and a strong distrust of strangers, particularly men. A trainer at the SPCA where we found her, taught her standard dog obedience hand signs, and we made up a few on our own. Hand signs are very important and otherwise she is just a regular dog, too! :D
Thanks for your comment, I think this book would be perfect for you. I'm glad your Aussie Shepherd found her forever home with you.
All the best,
Sarah
I am sure my grand daughter will like it. Tigerman
