Humor T-shirts for the Hard of Hearing

Hi, everyone!
Welcome to the launch of my new enterprise, Speak Up Librarian Shop. I've created a line of T-shirts for hard of hearing men and women that express our communication needs with grace, humor, and a little bit of attitude.

As I wrote in my last post, I believe strongly in personal safety. None of my t-shirts will label the wearer with the words deaf or hard of hearing. They are more along the line of inside jokes, if you will.

Here are two examples to illustrate what I mean:

Other t-shirts in my clothing line express communication needs boldly and without apology. You won't have to constantly remind your friends to face you and speak up when you wear these shirts:

I also have t-shirts that celebrate the joy of blogging. For fans of Rusty, my beloved golden retriever, there's a "Have a Golden Day!" mousepad and tote bag.

I hope you'll have fun visiting my store (click the link above or the logo in my sidebar) and spread the word if you like what you see.
All the best,
Sarah

These are wonderful. What a great idea and I'm thinking, "Gee, I wish I had thought of that!" Good Luck with your venture.
You might want to check into displaying your wares at the upcoming ALDA convention. Here is the website. http://www.alda.org/ I just learned of the Association of Late Deafened Adults myself. There is also the HLAA and their convention will be next summer in Milwaukee I believe.
You are so smart. Excellent idea.

I'm puzzled, EVERY t-shirt will identify you have some sort of hearing loss lol..

Thanks, Glenice.

Hi MM,
Yes, the shirts are about hearing loss but my friends with perfect hearing that I showed them to could relate to them as well. We're not the only ones who make mistakes, after all. As people age, it naturally gets harder to hear. I was also thinking of those folks who haven't quite admitted to the need for a hearing aid.

For those of us who are part of the hard of hearing/deaf community, my concept was to convey what we need for communication without labeling ourselves as impaired in any way.
As Mog commented on my previous post, more awareness is needed. I hope my shirts will further that cause in a positive, humorous way.

As always thank you for your comment. By the way, I think you'd look great in my No Mumbling Zone shirt. *smile*

P.S. MM, I edited the wording of my post, so I hope it's clearer now.

Hey Sarah,
I love the new product line. Good luck with it. I hope you will get alot of good response. Cheryl

Thanks, Cheryl. Your support means a lot to me!

Glenice,
I've had more time to think over your suggestion. A convention in Milwaukee next summer might just work for me! In the meantime, this weekend I'll be wearing one of the T-shirts to an HLAA/ALDA event and passing out flyers to anyone who's interested. With this online shop, the t-shirts are printed at the time of the order and are available for sale 24/7. Thanks again for your supportive comment.

Cool shirts and what a great photo, Sarah... congrats on your new store. ;-)

What about pins, buttons, decals, stickers... those sorts of things? Not demanding them, just wondering! ;-)

Fantastic! I hope this business goes well; it's definitely an untapped niche!

Maybe you could run some sort of design contest to get some more ideas in a creative idea and you could reward the winner somehow. Kinda like threadless.com, which is a very cool online t-shirt shop!

All the best, Sarah, with this new endeavour!

Hi Jonathan,
I checked out threadless. Interesting concept. I'll have to give some more thought to your design contest idea. Thanks for your support!

'Face Me when you talk to me' would be good as a metal or enamel rectangle style badge.

Love the site and all the best Sarah!
